Portland-Seattle NBMBAA Essay Writing Competition

In accordance with its goal of promoting scholarship and supporting community endeavors, The Portland-Seattle chapter of the National Black MBA Association will provide two $250 scholarships to help undergraduate students defray the cost of college expenses. The awards will be made payable directly to the winners' college or university.

The students must choose from one topic below and must submit an essay of 2000 words or less on that topic. Essays must be completed by May 1, 2004 and sent to the following:

What role can African-Americans play in expanding United States economic ties via small to medium sized businesses in underdeveloped markets?

What are the economic and social implications of globalization for corporations? Discuss with reference to the impact globalization has on opportunities for African Americans

Finance & Accounting

Discuss the role of either the Financial and the Accounting function in a business and explain why you would be better served working in one of those areas instead of another.
