Interdisciplinary Center for Law and Entrepreneurship
The Interdisciplinary Center for Law and Entrepreneurship is a newly launched joint venture between Master of Business Administration (MBA) students at Portland State University and law students from Lewis & Clark's Northwestern School of Law designed to enhance the effectiveness of relationships between legal and business professionals.
The academic program is available to second and third year PSU MBA and Lewis & Clark law students and includes one term of coursework followed by two terms of on-site project work delivered through Lewis & Clark’s Small Business Legal Clinic in downtown Portland. In both cases, MBA and law students will work in teams to offer consultation to small and emerging business owners on topics such as contracts, financial set-up and accounting procedures, regulatory compliance, real estate, intellectual property, staffing and employee selection, management and marketing. Small fees will be assessed, but may be waived based on financial need.
The joint program begins in Fall 2003, with students taking the Law and Entrepreneurship Seminar in the fall term, followed by two terms of clinical work at the Lewis & Clark Small Business Legal Clinic.
