  • Sean Madian is a Principal with Katalyst Group, LLC., and has been an adjunct member of the faculty at Portland State University since 1998. Mr. Madian has taught a variety of courses at Portland State including Recruiting and Selection, Introduction to Human Resources Management and the Human Resources Management capstone course, MGMT 493. In addition to his teaching at PSU, Mr. Madian also teaches in the School of Professional Development at Portland State University.

    Prior to forming Katalyst Group, Mr. Madian was the Vice President of Human Resources for Timberline Software (a developer of project management and accounting software) and a Principal with MBL Group, LLC. (a regional human resources consulting firm). Prior to MBL Group he held several other human resources positions with companies such as Precision Interconnect (a medical device manufacturer) and Copeland Lumber Yards, Inc. (a west coast building materials retailer).

    Mr. Madian holds a Masters in Management from the Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University. He graduated with High Honors from Portland State University where he earned a bachelors degree in Psychology. Mr. Madian earned several scholarships and recognition during his academic career including the Georgia Sherman and Robert. W. Denomy awards and he was the founding president of the student chapter of PHRMA at Willamette University’s Atkinson School.

    Mr. Madian has published several articles in a variety of print and online venues. His most recent article, Failing Grades: When Education Reimbursement Linked to Grades Damages Your Organization was written for Cenquest, a managed education portal developed in partnership with the American Electronics Association (AeA). Mr. Madian is active in the community having supported the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross since 1998 and he is a co-chair of the AeA’s HR Committee.
