It was the first-of-its-kind sports lottery game in the nation which received national and international media coverage during start-up and throughout the season. Of the amount transferred, academic scholarships receive 12 percent and athletic scholarships receive 88 percent.

  • August 31, 1997..........Sports Action regular season begins. Additional Special Plays were added to the Monday night games, instead of 2 Special Plays there will now be at least 3 to 4 each Monday night.
  • January 25, 1998........Sports Action season concludes with the final game in San Diego. Over $1.5 million went to the Intercollegiate Athletic and Academic Scholarship Fund for a grand total of over $15.7 million transferred since the game began.

  • July 1995........New commission rule takes effect: A retailer's commission will be 30 percent once net receipts have reached $200,000 within the fiscal year. They will remain at 30 percent for the remainder of the fiscal year.
  • January 1996........Approximatley 1,646 retailers in the field with a total of 7,856 terminals.
  • June 1996........Approximately 1,752 retailers in the field with a total of 8,388 terminals. Average Net Weekly Sales $7.03 million.
