The Hyacinth is native to Greece and Asia Minor. Greek mythology tells of the beautiful boy Hyacinth who was dearly loved by the gods. When he was fatally injured in a discus competition, fragrant flowers sprung from his bleeding head as he lay dying in the arms of Apollo.

Hyacinths have a long history as a garden shrub, beginning in Europe's first botanical garden in Padua. As a cut flower, Hyacinths enjoy a long vase life of up to 14 days. They thrive in cooler conditions, and frequent misting increases their longevity.
