Inservice Directions - Positioning the ComressAR® Stand

Objectives / Prior to CompressAR® application / Preparing the patient / Positioning the CompressAR® Stand / Placing pressure / Releasing pressure and observation of wound site / Removing the Stand and monitoring the patient / Reminders / Cleaning Instructions

Positioning the CompressAR® StrongArm Stand

  • Raise the StrongArm to the top of the Stand to keep it out of the way while positioning the Stand. An Arm Lock under the Arm can help with this. Rotate the Shaft so that the Arm is pointed away from the patient during positioning. Unlock the Shaft by lifting the Top Lever, which is located at the top of the Shaft.
  • Put the Base of the Stand underneath the mattress, under the patient's hip.
  • Open the sealed package containing the sterile CompressAR® 3-Finger Jack Disc and, following sterile procedure, place it on the Arm Slide.
  • Position the Arm Slide, with Disc attached, over the sheath.
  • Lower the Arm, twisting the Shaft and moving the Arm Slide, so that the Disc is placed proximally and medially to the sheath. The sheath should be centered in the V-notch when the Disc makes contact with the body surface.
  • When the StrongArm is in the correct position, lock the Top Lever, to prevent motion of the Shaft.
  • The Shaft and Arm may be placed diagonally on obese patients, with the Arm aimed towards the opposite shoulder, to prevent the patient's abdominal bulk from moving the Arm. The Base should be located parallel with the Arm, pointing in the same direction.
