Recognizing the need to focus on applications and product development specific to femoral hemostasis, the management at Semler Technologies created Advanced Vascular Dynamics (AVD) in 2000. AVD's lead product line, the CompressAR® System, has been successfully used on millions of patients worldwide, making it the global leader in femoral hemostasis for over 25 years.

Invented by Herbert J. Semler, MD, FACC, and formerly marketed by Instromedix®, the CompressAR System was designed as a hands-free mechanical compression system and is used by clinicians to easily achieve post-catheterization femoral hemostasis. In 1998, the CompressAR product line was transferred to Semler Technologies and now, in 2000, it is the primary focus of Advanced Vascular Dynamics, A Semler Technologies Company.

Dr. Semler and the people who helped develop and implement earlier versions of the CompressAR System are working to continuously create better training and information for CompressAR users, and develop new products designed for greater patient comfort and ease of use by technicians and nurses. Dr. Semler's extensive experience as a practicing, board-certified cardiologist helped him create visionary new products now in common use in physicians' offices and hospitals throughout the world. In addition to the CompressAR System, these products include cardiac event recorders, transtelephonic pacemaker follow-up transmitters, and receivers.
